Our high quality carpets, manufactured by Auto Custom Carpets, have a similar look and feel to the original carpet that came in your Impreza. We outsource the production of this carpet and then trim it for you. The carpet comes too large from the factory, so we then use our template to cut the transmission area, and the sides for you, which makes the installation much easier for you, and minimlizaes the chances of the customer cutting too much off the sides. This is why it is called the pre-cut carpet. You still need to cut the holes for vents, seat belts, and bolts. A small amount of modification is needed for it to fit correctly- please read disclaimer below. We currently have one of these installed in our company vehicle and it fits well!
Mass Backing: This listing is for a carpet that includes mass backing. What is it? This process adds approximately 14 pounds of dense vinyl backing to the underside of the carpet. Thus reducing road noise and vibration. It is similar to Dynamat or similar products, but you just lay down the carpet and it’s done.
Carpet Options: You have 2 versions for the carpet. The closest to stock Subaru carpet is called Regular OEM Style. It is a high quality product that is similar to the stock carpet. If you want to upgrade that to have more plush carpet fibers, it is called “Essex”, found in the order tab below. You can get these carpets uncut (click back and look for uncut in the title), or precut by our shop like this one. Finally you can have the carpet made similar to stock with a poly backing like this, or you can have it made with a mass backing (this carpet has mass backing in the title), which adds approximately 12 pounds of sound deadening vinyl, which reduces road vibration and noise.
Shipping: Please expect your carpet to ship from us within 6-12 business days of ordering. Generally it’s on the shorter side of that range. You will receive a confirmation email, and your tracking number will be sent to you as soon as we have it.
Installation: You can find the installation instructions on this page.
Pictures: The first/second picture shows a black carpet installed, the 3rd photo shows an pre-cut OEM gray #7701 carpet, and the 4th carpet shows the uncut carpet (check out other carpet options if you want this product)
Warranty & Returns: In short, our items are custom built for your color scheme, so unless you have a popular item, they can not be returned unless you’re sent a defective item. Based on the situation, we may honor a warranty with a replacement product. To read our full Warranty & Returns section, please view this link: http://zealousinteriors.com/warranty-returns/
Wagon Fitment: This product will fit your vehicle, however it is not for the trunk area. It is the same as the sedan carpet because the floor pans are the same. So it does the entire passenger area, but the carpet ends under the rear seats. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not make a wagon specific carpet. We suggest ordering the dark gray color so your trunk looks the same as the interior.
Fitment Disclaimer: We have sold 50+ of these carpets and the customers are always happy with the outcome. The carpets take some minor work to perfect, but in the end, even a customer with a show car was happy with the carpet. If you install this carpet and do not make relief cuts, it will not look stock in a few places. However, if you want it to look as close to the stock carpet as possible, a few relief cuts will be necessary. I would save the small scraps that you cut off as a backup if you cut too much. If you make any cuts that do not come out well, you can use it to put behind the imperfection. Right near the rear seat heater vents, there is a hump. On both the driver side and passenger side of the carpet that are in line with the heater vents, the carpet will not want to sit flat. Picture a bulge where there is too much material. So you need to make a small vertical cut where it want to fold, and then one section needs to overlap the other. Or cut a “V” and join them with thread or a few zip ties. They are further secured because the whole section gets tucked under the trim. It is hardly noticeable. If you want to continue hiding this small imperfection, which being next to the seat you will probably not notice at all, then you could use a small dab of hot glue/fabric glue (request bottle of glue in order notes if you want it) and add carpet fibers from yours scraps. One other small modification is near the dead pedal. This may require one small vertical cut so that it can lay perfectly flat as well. But this cut is behind the trim piece so it is not seen. If you want further explanation, please ask.
